Briceno re-signed with the Royals on a minor-league contract Wednesday.
Scouting Report
Very athletic for a catcher, he can hit for a solid average and make consistent contact in the minor leagues. Can also run a little. Displays a sound glove behind home plate. Does not have a classic catchers' build, so he can wear down with overuse. Also, he does not have ideal home-run power for a catcher. Could stand to draw more walks, too.
Long Range Potential: Backup catcher.
