The Rockies announced Sunday that Lambert will open the season as a long reliever, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.
The Rockies and Lambert avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $1.25 million contract Thursday, Patrick Lyons of TheDNVR.com reports.
His major strengths are his deep arsenal, his control of the strike zone and overall pitching smarts. He always has a game plan when on the bump. His fastball is solid and his curve is his go-to delivery. Displays excellent command of all four of his pitches (also throws a changeup and slider). Could stand to add more bulk to his 6-2 frame and get physically stronger, since he is not a dominant starter.
Long Range Potential: Solid, savvy right-hander with upside.
