Scouting Report
He was the whole package as a hitter: an elite contact hitter with great bat control, occasional home-run power and a doubles machine. Also took a number of walks and could be a top-tier run producer. A great all-around catcher early on in his career, he made a smooth transition to first base in his second stanza in MLB. Concussion issues forced him to end his stint at catcher prematurely, which slightly lessened his overall value at the big-league level. At times, he should have been more aggressive at the plate. His power declined significantly in the second half of his career in MLB.
Long Range Potential: Versatile, superstar contact hitter and franchise player.
