Has very good plate discipline, patience and sound overall batting instincts. Will often walk more than he strikes out. Can get red-hot with the bat for long stretches. Is a versatile fielder. Does not have huge power. Left-handed pitchers give him more trouble, so he profiles more as a platoon player. Is a stiff defender. Concussions forced a move from behind home plate.
