The Mariners purchased Kelly's contract Saturday, Michael Pfaff of the Long Island Ducks reports.
Scouting Report
Was a solid line-drive hitter with excellent strike-zone judgment. Could steal a base and was generally a very heady ball player. Was plenty versatile with the glove. Did not have great home-run power, nor was he blessed with great speed. Also, he was a man without a natural defensive position to call his own in MLB.
Long Range Potential: Versatile glove and patient hitter.
