Was a prolific, high-energy, monster tackler in the middle of the defense. He had great instensity, speed and agility. Was a good play-caller and defensive leader. Smart and instinctive, he regularly made plays in pursuit. Could also gain the edge against blockers and record the occasional sack. His lack of size at middle linebacker--combined with his highly energetic style--led to a lack of durability. His attack-the-line mentality sometimes saw him overplay the run, and led to some mistakes in coverage. Was not much of a pickoff threat at the National Football League level.
