When on his game, he could be nearly impossible to contain: forced teams to overplay him because of his league-best scrambling ability and flashed a very strong lefty arm for deep throws. Was a fantastic athlete with top-end jets, even at an advanced age. Was in major trouble off the field, which hurt his career. Forced the issue too much, as he tended to run first rather than wait for plays to develop downfield. Was also quite prone to fumbling and was injury-prone due to his style of play and lack of size.
