The 49ers signed Ya-Sin (knee) to a one-year deal Thursday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
He is aptly named given his intensely physical style and aggressive coverage technique. A former state champion wrestler who excels at crowding and pressuring receivers, he can outmuscle opponents at the point of reception. Also possesses a long running stride to close ground quickly and displays strong ball skills. Is also an asset in run support and shows no hesitation in attacking the ball carrier or striking a blow. Played only one season of major college ball, so he lacks refinement and efficiency in basic footwork. Must also learn how to contain and channel his built-in aggression.
Long Range Potential: Solid, hard-hitting defensive back.
