Johnson (shoulder) and the Bears agreed to terms on a four-year, $76 million contract extension Thursday, Jordan Schultz of BleacherReport.com reports.
Chicago is placing the franchise tag on Johnson (shoulder) on Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
The polished cornerback does not necessarily generate a ton of takeaways, but he can shut down even the most talented receivers. He excels in press coverage and does a good job of making receivers work harder than expected to get into their routes. Is learning to trust his technique, and will continue to get better as he matures and continues to get acclimated to the speed of the NFL.
Long Range Potential: Shutdown cornerback.
