A legit nose-tackle and a consummate wide-bodied run stuffer who demanded a double-team on most downs. Was very, very aware of the action in front of him, and was supremely active with his hands: would bat (and even pick off) passes. Had a burst off the snap. A leader too, on and off the field. Sometimes wore down late in games and could be sluggish when he got too heavy. Hustled well but didn't make many plays outside the tackle box. Injuries and age took their toll.
