Really piled up net punting yardage because he was an innovator in the punting game: he took a uniquely strategic and creative approach to his craft, using an uncommon number of different techniques and punting styles to keep returners off-balance. Had all the tricks and used them impressively. Did not always get ideal distance and hang time (when that was appropriate) because he regularly experimented with floaters other unconventional kicks.
