Liked to be involved in physical contests and was never afraid of throwing his weight around. Was a solid team player, could drop the gloves and play either wing position. Could also kill penalties reasonably well (even in the NHL). Was extremely limited in terms of his natural offensive ability, so he should never be counted on to take a regular shift each and every night. Could sometimes take a bad penalty to put his team behind the eight-ball.
