PACERS PURCHASE DRAFT PICK, ADD SUMNER

The Indiana Pacers acquired a 2nd-round draft pick in 2017 (No. 52 overall, point guard Edmond Sumner) from the New Orleans Pelicans for cash.

What does it give the Indiana Pacers
Sumner isn't a sure thing but he does have very intriguing tools, and if he can stay healthy and keep developing ideally he can be eventually be a starting point guard for Indy. Nice move by the Pacers to make this move to snap him up late in Round 2.

What does it give the New Orleans Pelicans
The Pelicans got a steal earlier in Round 2 by moving up to draft combo guard Frank Jackson (one of the most underrated players in the draft) so perhaps they accomplished their second round goals with that impressive move.

Fantasy impact
Sumner isn't ready for prime time, but a few years from now he might be a player to consider in most fantasy leagues; he has the raw tools to be a productive NBA starting point guard.
