JERAMI GRANT GONE TO DENVER
The Denver Nuggets acquired forward Jerami Grant from the Oklahoma City Thunder for a first-round draft pick in 2020.
What does it give the Denver Nuggets
In Grant, the Nuggets land a quality power forward who was used as a starter with the Thunder (but who will likely serve as veteran Paul Millsap's direct backup in Denver). Grant gives the Nuggets yet another piece to the puzzle. Denver is now a serious championship contender and a major threat to come out of the Western Conference in 2019-20.
What does it give the Oklahoma City Thunder
After Oklahoma City decided to trade star forward/guard Paul George earlier in the off-season, it became apparent that the team was headed towards a massive rebuilding plan. Dealing Grant for a first-round pick in next year's draft continues down the same long-range path. Now, it remains to be seen whether OKC will trade franchise point guard Russell Westbrook.
Fantasy impact
Grant is no longer a starter with the move to Denver, but he should continue to see ample minutes as one of the first options off the bench. So, while his fantasy stock may be headed in the wrong direction, do not give up on Grant completely--just temper expectations.
