Dedmon is a depth center at this point in his NBA career, but he may not be long for San Antonio (a young, rebuilding squad). The Spurs got a future second-round draft pick in this deal, which was their prime motivation.
What does it give the Miami Heat
The Heat were able to find a taker for Dedmon, so they will not have to waive him (expect San Antonio to do so). It cost them a second in '28, but they were able to get back some cash in this transaction. This move works for everyone.
