P.J. WASHINGTON NOW WITH DALLAS
The Dallas Mavericks acquired forward/center P.J. Washington, a second-round draft pick in 2024 and a second-round draft pick in 2028 from the Charlotte Hornets for forward Grant Williams, guard Seth Curry and a first-round draft pick in 2027.
What does it give the Dallas Mavericks
The Mavericks are getting bigger with the addition of Washington, who joins Dallas along with Daniel Gafford (acquired from the Washington Wizards) to give the team more of a presence up front. They got back two second-rounders in this trade but had to surrender two players and a first.
What does it give the Charlotte Hornets
The rebuilding Hornets get back a future first-round draft pick in this trade, which is the key to the deal. However, both Williams and Curry might be able to carve out a prominent role in Charlotte's rotation for the rest of 2023-24. Curry is a Charlotte native, so this is a bit of a feel-good story as well.
Fantasy impact
Washington will be mainly responsible for rebounding in Dallas, but he might be worth a look in some fantasy leagues. Williams and Curry should be able to see more minutes in Charlotte, so both could be worth a flier in deeper formats.
