NETS SIGN-&-TRADE FOR MORROW

The New Jersey Nets acquired swingman Anthony Morrow from the Golden State Warriors for a trade exception and a protected 2011 second-round draft pick.

What does it give the New Jersey Nets
The Nets already signed restricted free agent Morrow to a three-year, $12 Million offer sheet, but getting the Warriors to sign him first allows the deal to get completed without risking Golden State matching the offer (as is their right). Morrow is a very good outside shooter and scorer, and should be a valuable rotation player who can help the improving Nets open up opposing defenses.

What does it give the Golden State Warriors
The key here for the Warriors is they get a $2.6 Million trade exception, which they can offer over the next year to teams looking to move players making roughly that much in salary. The second-round pick is mostly a formality (since it's only valid if the Nets have a selection from No.56 to 60 in next year's draft).
