WATERS TO THE WARRIORS

In a three-team trade, the Golden State Warriors acquired guard Lindy Waters III from the Oklahoma City Thunder, and a second-round draft pick in 2024 (No. 52 overall) from the Portland Trail Blazers; Oklahoma City acquired a second-round draft pick in 2024 (No. 40 overall) from the Trail Blazers; and Portland acquired cash considerations from the Thunder.

What does it give the Golden State Warriors
For Golden State, Waters may represent a new-ish era beginning in San Francisco. He did not play a ton with OKC, but may be needed more as the Warriors start a transitional phase.

What does it give the Oklahoma City Thunder
The Thunder picked up draft rights to a pair of players that they traded away, including 40th overall. This team has championship aspirations in 2024-25, so no surprises here.

What does it give the Portland Trail Blazers
For Portland, they were able to secure some cash without really doing much here. Clearly, the Trail Blazers were needed to complete this complicated trade, one of many this off-season.

Fantasy impact
Do not expect Waters III or any of the second-round picks involved in this trade to make a big impact this season. They can be safely ignored for the time being.
