HARDAWAY JR. HEADS TO DETROIT
The Detroit Pistons acquired forward/guard Tim Hardaway Jr., a second-round draft pick in 2025 and two second-round draft picks in 2028 from the Dallas Mavericks for guard/forward Quentin Grimes.
What does it give the Detroit Pistons
In Hardaway Jr., the Pistons add a solid contributor who can come off the bench and provide scoring (or be used as a veteran presence in the starting lineup). Dallas had to shed salary, so Detroit did well to pounce on the opportunity.
What does it give the Dallas Mavericks
The Mavericks did not make this deal because they believe Grimes is that much better than Hardaway Jr. In actuality, Grimes was merely thrown into a trade designed to help Dallas with future moves. It cost them a solid player and three picks.
Fantasy impact
Hardaway Jr. and Grimes are solid NBA players who could both be regular contributors in the rotations of their respective new teams. That said, neither is a recommendable fantasy option at this time.
