BLAZERS, NUGGETS EXCHANGE GUARDS
The Portland Trail Blazers acquired guard Von Wafer from the Denver Nuggets for point guard Taurean Green.
What does it give the Portland Trail Blazers
The Blazers pick up a bit of depth at shooting guard here, since they could afford to lose a point guard (with Steve Blake, Jarrett Jack, Sergio Rodriguez, and Petteri Koponen already in the system). Wafer is an athletic scorer who can also distribute the ball effectively, so he might be a nice sleeper pickup going forward.
What does it give the Denver Nuggets
With Denver's starting backcourt of Allen Iverson and Anthony Johnson over age 30, the Nuggets obviously are adding some depth at point guard. Green is a speedy and efficient playmaker who just didn't get much opportunity in Portland because the Blazers have so much depth at his position. He might get a regular chance to contribute, especially next season.
