KORVER HEADS TO HAWKS
The Atlanta Hawks acquired guard/forward Kyle Korver from the Chicago Bulls for cash and a trade exception.
What does it give the Atlanta Hawks
The Hawks seem determined to add perimeter scoring this off-season, especially with {P Joe Johnson} now in Brooklyn. Korver is one of the NBA's best 3-point shooters, and should be a solid backup at small forward and shooting guard. He'll need to fight for minutes with {P Anthony Morrow} and {P Louis Williams}, but Korver is a quality veteran who can provide a spark.
What does it give the Chicago Bulls
Chicago isn't having a great off-season, and they unfortunately had to move the solid Korver here to get some financial flexibility (since they may try to match Houston's offer for emerging restricted free agent center {P Omer Asik}). The cash helps with that, and the trade exception is for roughly $5 million (so the Bulls are now allowed to sign a free agent for up to that much over the next year without moving a player in return). Expect more shots and minutes for {P Jimmy Butler} in 2012-13 as a result.
