AVERY ADDED BY THE EAGLES
The Philadelphia Eagles acquired defensive end/linebacker Genard Avery from the Cleveland Browns for an undisclosed draft pick in 2021.
What does it give the Philadelphia Eagles
Avery is added to an Eagles team that has plenty of edge rushers but are banged up on the interior of the 4-3 base defense. Avery provides depth on the outside and may leapfrog past a few other backup edge rushers. He has plenty of untapped potential, so this is a smart move by the Eagles at this time.
What does it give the Cleveland Browns
The Browns were not really using Avery much this season, so they appear to be doing him a favor here by sending him to the contending Eagles. In return, Cleveland will receive an undisclosed draft pick in '21. Stuck behind Myles Garrett and Olivier Vernon, Avery did not have much of a chance in Cleveland.
Fantasy impact
Avery is someone to keep an eye on, especially in deep IDP keeper leagues. He may become a sack specialist in Philadelphia, so he bears watching between now and the end of 2019.
