KWON ALEXANDER ADDED BY NEW ORLEANS

The New Orleans Saints acquired linebacker Kwon Alexander from the San Francisco 49ers for linebacker Kiko Alonso and a conditional fifth-round draft pick in 2022.

What does it give the New Orleans Saints
In Alexander, the Saints get the more talented linebacker in this swap. However, injuries and inconsistency have wreaked havoc on Alexander's NFL career to date. That said, he is still young enough to make an impact in New Orleans, a team whose best linebacker (Demario Davis) is aging.

What does it give the San Francisco 49ers
On the surface, it may appear a little surprising that the contending 49ers decided to deal away Alexander. However, they were able to get back a linebacker in Alonso, who is currently on IR. Alexander's replacement on the field should be Azeez Al-Shaair, who was already taking Alexander's place this season due to injury.

Fantasy impact
Alexander and Al-Shaair should both see their fantasy stock increase after this deal. However, neither linebacker is a sack artist, so neither has great IDP value. Alonso is merely a depth linebacker at this point, so his value should remain negligible in San Francisco.
