MINSHEW II MOVED TO PHILADELPHIA
The Philadelphia Eagles acquired quarterback Gardner Minshew II from the Jacksonville Jaguars for a conditional sixth-round draft pick in 2022.
What does it give the Philadelphia Eagles
In Minshew II, the Eagles get a significant upgrade at backup quarterback to Joe Flacco and Nick Mullens (the latter was released by Philadelphia in a corresponding move). Minshew II could even push starter Jalen Hurts throughout 2021. This is a good move by the Eagles, with no downside.
What does it give the Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jaguars are obviously committed to 2021 No. 1 overall draft pick Trevor Lawrence as the quarterback of the present and future. So, Minshew II was expendable. Did Jacksonville get enough back for their backup QB, who has starting experience in the NFL? Probably not.
Fantasy impact
Fantasy leaguers who draft Hurts this year should consider picking up Minshew II, as well (just in case). Otherwise, Minshew II's value will only go up if he starts games for the Eagles.
