SHAQ MASON MOVES TO TAMPA BAY
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers acquired offensive guard Shaq Mason from the New England Patriots for a fifth-round draft pick in 2022 (No. 170 overall).
What does it give the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Having lost left guard Ali Marpet to retirement and right guard Alex Cappa to free agency, the Buccaneers needed interior offensive line help in the worst way. Enter Mason, who has a history protecting returning quarterback Tom Brady. Mason should be an excellent addition to the Bucs in 2022.
What does it give the New England Patriots
The Patriots did not get much in return for a premiere interior offensive lineman, but Mason is closing in on 30 years of age and has a fairly big salary cap hit. So, Pats head coach Bill Belichick did what he always does--move on. That said, Belichick will need to address his offensive line on draft weekend.
Fantasy impact
Mason's arrival should help Tampa Bay's offensive continuity, so most of the Buccaneers' fantasy performers will still be extremely valuable on draft day.
