JALEN RAMSEY TO MIAMI
The Miami Dolphins acquired cornerback Jalen Ramsey from the Los Angeles Rams for a third-round draft pick in 2023 (No. 77 overall) and tight end Hunter Long.
What does it give the Miami Dolphins
In Miami, Ramsey moves to a team with a very good defense that just got a lot better. He is one of the premier shutdown cornerbacks in the entire NFL, and he will be going up against the AFC's top wide receivers on a weekly basis. Xavien Howard is also a great corner for Miami, but perhaps this move leads to another trade involving Howard (if Miami prefers to reallocate resources somewhere else).
What does it give the Los Angeles Rams
The Rams are a team in transition. After winning the Super Bowl in 2022 (2021 season), Los Angeles struggled this past year and missed the playoffs. As a result, veterans will be moved out and the slow process of reshaping the roster begins. Ramsey's departure gives the team's young secondary more opportunities. As for Long, he could play a role in 2023 after playing sparingly in Miami.
Fantasy impact
Ramsey is the type of cornerback who can actually help fantasy rosters in IDP leagues, because he makes plays all over the field. That will not change in Miami. Long is not a recommendable fantasy option at this time.
