COOKS IS A COWBOY
The Dallas Cowboys acquired wide receiver Brandin Cooks from the Houston Texans for a fifth-round draft pick in 2023 (No.161), and a sixth-round draft pick in 2024.
What does it give the Dallas Cowboys
Cooks finally had his trade request granted, and now finds himself on a playoff contender. He is coming off a season where he recorded 57 catches, 699 yards and three touchdowns in 13 games. He will likely become the Cowboys' No. 2 receiver behind CeeDee Lamb heading into the 2023 season. Michael Gallup should round out the team's three-wide sets.
What does it give the Houston Texans
For Houston, the two picks in the upcoming two drafts increases their draft capital as they continue to rebuild around the quarterback they should select second in 2023. The fifth-round pick replaces the pick they forfeited due to a salary cap reporting violation from the 2020 league year. The Texans will only pay $6 million of the remaining $18 million on Cooks' contract.
Fantasy impact
Cooks will probably not become a top-24 fantasy wideout after this move, but he should see his numbers increase with Dak Prescott as his new quarterback. He should be a high-end WR3 in many fantasy leagues if he stays healthy, as he will likely become the No. 2 option in the Dallas offense.
