ZA'DARIUS SMITH SENT TO CLEVELAND
The Cleveland Browns acquired defensive end/linebacker Za'Darius Smith, a sixth-round draft pick in 2025 and a seventh-round draft pick in 2025 from the Minnesota Vikings for a fifth-round draft pick in 2024 and a fifth-round draft pick in 2025.
What does it give the Cleveland Browns
In Smith, the Browns get a tremendous bookend to dominant defensive end Myles Garrett on the other side. Smith played more as a 3-4 OLB in both Green Bay and Minnesota, but will switch to 4-3 end with Cleveland.
What does it give the Minnesota Vikings
The Vikings were looking to dump Smith's contract, which runs through 2023. Mission accomplished, though their ability to rush the passer is unlikely to improve without Smith on the roster. Minny needs more help there.
Fantasy impact
There is no reason to draft Smith this year, even in IDP formats. Garrett is the player to select among Cleveland pass rushers, especially now with a strong presence on the other edge.
