CARDINALS GET QB DOBBS

The Arizona Cardinals acquired quarterback Joshua Dobbs and a seventh-round draft pick in 2024 from the Cleveland Browns for a fifth-round draft pick in 2024.

What does it give the Arizona Cardinals
In Dobbs, the Cardinals are adding a decent backup quarterback who will probably start at the beginning of the regular season in place of the injured Kyler Murray. The Cards felt they needed more depth at the position, which is probably bad news for veteran Colt McCoy (among others).

What does it give the Cleveland Browns
The Browns have Deshaun Watson and 2023 draft pick Dorian Thompson-Robinson, who is having a strong training camp. Therefore, they felt comfortable trading away projected backup quarterback Dobbs at this time. Cleveland will receive a two-round draft pick upgrade in next year's draft in return.

Fantasy impact
Dobbs will be a short-term fantasy option if he wins the starting QB job in Arizona (likely) while Murray is unavailable. That said, there are probably better options in virtually all leagues. Therefore, only consider Dobbs in the late rounds.
