MONTEZ SWEAT MOVED TO BEARS
The Chicago Bears acquired defensive end Montez Sweat from the Washington Commanders for a second-round draft pick in 2024.
What does it give the Chicago Bears
Chicago has had one of the worst pass rushes in the NFL the last few season and the hope is bringing in Sweat and his 6.5 sacks on the season will improve that area of weakness. With Sweat being in the last year of his contract the Bears must assume they can resign him before he hits free agency at the end of the season or this deal make little sense.
What does it give the Washington Commanders
There had been rumours for a few weeks that the Commanders might trade a pass rusher and they did. Instead of choosing to resign Sweat, Washington decided to get a high draft pick and save some money. The pick could eventually be used to select Sweat's replacement.
Fantasy impact
This deal may actually hurt Sweat's value in IDP leagues. He becomes one of the top pass rushers on the Bears which could lead to more double teams in protection from offences.
