BURNS BROUGHT IN BY THE GIANTS
The New York Giants acquired defensive end/linebacker Brian Burns from the Carolina Panthers for a second-round draft pick in 2024 (No. 39 overall) and a fifth-round draft pick in 2025.
What does it give the New York Giants
In Burns, the Giants land a huge piece for their defense. He is a great edge rusher who will play opposite Kayvon Thibodeaux to form a fearsome sack duo. New York still has a lot of work to do this off-season, but at least their pass rush looks potent.
What does it give the Carolina Panthers
The Panthers are admittedly in rebuilding mode, so they want to allocate most of their available dollars to the offensive side of the ball (to surround young quarterback Bryce Young). So, an extension for Burns was not in the cards and a trade was.
Fantasy impact
Burns is definitely an IDP option in many fantasy leagues, but he might actually help Thibodeaux's fantasy fortunes more than his own.
