MATT JUDON JOINS THE FALCONS
The Atlanta Falcons acquired linebacker/defensive end Matt Judon from the New England Patriots for a third-round draft pick in 2025.
What does it give the Atlanta Falcons
The Falcons have been in search for more talent to rush the quarterback off the edge. Enter Judon, a veteran who could make a big impact on Atlanta's defense this season. The cost was expensive, as third-round picks are valuable in the NFL. However, the Falcons should get back instant value in Judon.
What does it give the New England Patriots
The 32-year-old Judon was not happy with his contract situation with the Patriots, a team that is now fully rebuilding after trying to compete in a post–Tom Brady world. So, New England shipped him to the NFC and got back a third-round draft pick in return. AFC rivals Buffalo, Miami and the Jets approve of this deal.
Fantasy impact
In fantasy leagues that use individual defensive players (IDP), Judon could be a decent draft option in the later rounds this year. He is always a candidate for double-digit sacks if he can stay healthy, which has been an issue at times.
