The Bengals lost the services of running back Zack Moss this past weekend, and he could be out for an extended period of time. Therefore, adding Herbert as a depth running back makes sense for Cincinnati at this time.
What does it give the Chicago Bears
The Bears will move forward with D'Andre Swift and Roschon Johnson as their top two running backs this season, so Herbert was clearly expendable. Chicago also has Travis Homer for depth. Even seventh-round draft picks can turn into something.
Fantasy impact
Chase Brown will become the main running back for the Bengals for as long as Moss is out. Therefore, Herbert should only be picked up in the deepest of fantasy leagues.
