LATTIMORE LANDS IN WASHINGTON
The Washington Commanders acquired cornerback Marshon Lattimore and a fifth-round draft pick in 2025 from the New Orleans Saints for a third-round draft pick in 2025, a fourth-round draft pick in 2025 and a sixth-round draft pick in 2025.
What does it give the Washington Commanders
This is quite a blockbuster trade by NFL standards, as Lattimore is a top cornerback (when healthy). He should immediately slide into the starting lineup if he is ready to go this week against Pittsburgh. Lattimore is a massive upgrade over the rest of Washington's cornerbacks, but the team paid a very steep price in order to acquire his services.
What does it give the New Orleans Saints
For the Saints, this is a great trade under trying circumstances. New Orleans has been in free fall for quite some time now, so head coach Dennis Allen was fired as a result. Losing Lattimore will hurt the Saints in the short term, but adding an extra third-rounder and fourth-rounder is massive for this team. Even after a one-round downgrade (from 5 to 6), this is a great haul.
Fantasy impact
Lattimore is not the type of fantasy defensive back that should be rostered in most IDP leagues. That is because he is too good, so he does not get challenged as much as some others. He is clearly a better NFL football player than fantasy option.
