What does it give the Los Angeles Angels
Mayfield is a solid defender who can play shortstop, so he may provide insurance and depth for the Angels (who are likely to utilize veteran Jose Iglesias as their full-time shortstop in 2021).
What does it give the Atlanta Braves
Mayfield had been designated for assignment by the Braves recently, so they did well to at least recuperate a little bit of cash in this transaction. Dansby Swanson will be the regular shortstop for Atlanta this season.
Fantasy impact
There is no fantasy impact to speak of here, as Mayfield will most likely fill a bench role for Los Angeles (assuming he makes the roster out of spring training).
