Samuel finished the 2022-23 season with 57 tackles (48 solo), one tackle for loss, two interceptions, a fumble recovery and 11 passes defended.
Samuel appears to be losing ground on the starting outside cornerback role opposite J.C. Jackson, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
The son of the longtime NFL cornerback (and two-time Super Bowl champion) of the same name is following in his father's footsteps. He is not the biggest corner around, but he has enough strength to make contested catches tough for opposing receivers. He might be best suited to play in the slot, though he is versatile enough to cope with outside receivers as well.
