Maeda allowed three runs on two hits and a walk across two innings of relief in Saturday's 4-2 loss to the Orioles. He struck out two.
Owns tremendous command and a deep, versatile pitching repertoire. Is also a good athlete. His slider is his best pitch (and a true out-pitch in MLB). Changes speeds effectively and displays loads of deception in his delivery. Must prove capable of maintaining a quality standard of performance over time, despite a slender frame for Major League Baseball (6-1, 175 pounds). Also, he doesn't have the type of fastball that can blow hitters away regularly.
Long Range Potential: Savvy, talented right-hander.
