SHARKS BRING IN BLACKWOOD

The San Jose Sharks acquired goaltender MacKenzie Blackwood from the New Jersey Devils for a sixth-round draft pick in 2023.

What does it give the San Jose Sharks
In Blackwood, the Sharks are getting a talented goaltender whose career has hit a speed bump. He will look to resurrect it in the Pacific Northwest for a Sharks team that is expected to enter a massive rebuilding phase this summer.

What does it give the New Jersey Devils
The Devils were probably not going to qualify Blackwood, a restricted free agent, before the end-of-week deadline. Therefore, getting back a sixth-rounder is like free money for Devils GM Tom Fitzgerald. New Jersey has better options.

Fantasy impact
Blackwood is a bounce-back candidate for 2023-24. His stats may not be pretty with the Sharks for a few seasons, though. Therefore, he can be safely ignored in the majority of fantasy leagues this year.
