Scouting Report
Was still among the NHL's best two-way centers until he decided to call it a career. Was a quality playmaker who shot enough to keep opponents from cheating on his wings. As good a defensive center as the NHL saw in the 21st century, his prowess in the face-off circle meant that his team had the puck a lot and he kept it moving in the right direction. Was also a born leader who did most of his talking with his play on the ice; he led by example, and others followed. Had to endure injury problems for a big part of his career.
