GIANTS ADD IF BECKHAM FOR FINAL WEEK

The San Francisco Giants acquired infielder Gordon Beckham from the Atlanta Braves for infielder Richard Rodriguez.

What does it give the San Francisco Giants
Desperate to make the postseason after an epic second-half collapse, the Giants added Beckham for the final week of the regular season to help out at third base. That's because Eduardo Nunez is currently nursing a hamstring issue. Beckham may share time with Conor Gillaspie at the hot corner if Nunez cannot play in the final week.

What does it give the Atlanta Braves
For the Braves, their lost season did come with plenty of smart trades for future assets (including this one). In Rodriguez, the Braves land a decent middle infielder whose ceiling is that of a utility man at the big-league level. Despite his lack of upside, this is still a fine deal for Atlanta. That's because Beckham is not part of the team's future.

Fantasy impact
There is no fantasy upside here, as neither Beckham nor Rodriguez is an everyday player at the big-league level at this point.
