MARLINS DEAL PROSPECT FOR CLOSER

The Florida Marlins acquired pitcher Jorge Julio and cash from the Arizona Diamondbacks for pitcher Yusmeiro Petit.

What does it give the Florida Marlins
Lacking an experienced closer on the roster, Julio comes right into camp as the favorite to hold the job to start the season. Though he can be wild at times, he also has some of the nastiest stuff around and has 99 career saves to his credit. But if he doesn't excel with the Fish, young lefty Taylor Tankersley will be waiting to take over the top bullpen job. They paid a high price to get Julio, though, so they must be hoping he'll run away with the job.

What does it give the Arizona Diamondbacks
The D'backs aren't exactly deep on young pitching talent, so Petit helps them there. Just 22, he could still use a little more minor-league seasoning, and his new club will probably give him that. But he's a promising righty who throws strikes and could be starting with the big club before the end of the season.
