QUENTIN TO WHITE SOX
The Chicago White Sox acquired outfielder Carlos Quentin from the Arizona Diamondbacks for infielder Chris Carter.
What does it give the Chicago White Sox
Quentin bombed in his first stint as a regular outfielder in the bigs. However, he still has a lot of potential as a corner slugger. He'll probably get a long look in left field this spring, and may bust out in much the same manner first baseman Paul Konerko did upon arriving in the Windy City.
What does it give the Arizona Diamondbacks
The 20-year-old Carter plays first base these days, so he will essentially replace the other first baseman named Chris Carter--who was dealt last August in a three-way deal with Washington and Boston. This Chris Carter has more upside but is several years away from the big leagues. Therefore, Diamondbacks incumbent Conor Jackson can relax for now.
