ANGELS ACQUIRE OF CAMERON MAYBIN

The Los Angeles Angels acquired outfielder Cameron Maybin from the Detroit Tigers for pitcher Victor Alcantara.

What does it give the Los Angeles Angels
A natural center-fielder, Maybin is expected to play left field with the Angels (who have Mike Trout in center field and Kole Calhoun in right field). Maybin has been a very inconsistent (and injury-prone) big leaguer, but he should help fill a major hole in left field for Los Angeles.

What does it give the Detroit Tigers
The Tigers decided to give up on their starting center-fielder, partly because they did not want to exercise their club option for 2017 ($9 million). In Alcantara, the Tigers get a decent prospect (ranked No. 4 by Baseball America going into 2016) who has struggled to get results, so far.

Fantasy impact
Maybin could bounce back with the Angels, so his fantasy value gets a bit of a spike after this trade. Alcantara might improve his fortunes pitching in Detroit rather than Anaheim, though he is still a few years away from MLB. He should be on the fantasy radar now.
