BRAVES, RANGERS SWAP PITCHING PROJECTS
The Atlanta Braves acquired pitcher Luke Jackson from the Texas Rangers for pitchers Tyrell Jenkins and Brady Feigl.
What does it give the Atlanta Braves
Both Jackson and Jenkins have underachieved in professional baseball, so far, so this deal gives both pitchers a new start. Jackson will likely be used out of the bullpen by Atlanta. He has a pretty good shot at breaking camp with the big club in spring training.
What does it give the Texas Rangers
Jenkins is still quite raw, but there may still be some time left for him to put it all together in the Rangers organization. He might be a candidate to win the fifth starter job in spring training, or earn a spot out of the bullpen as a long man. Feigl is a lefty specialist who will also compete for a roster spot in 2017.
Fantasy impact
Neither Jackson nor Jenkins have proven much so far in their pro careers, so both are major fantasy question marks. At this point, they are no better than dark horses. Feigl has no fantasy value as a potential situational left-hander.
