NIPPERT TO TEXAS

The Texas Rangers acquired pitcher Dustin Nippert from the Arizona Diamondbacks for pitcher Jose Marte.

What does it give the Texas Rangers
Nippert was being used as a reliever with the D'backs but he could get an immediate opportunity as a starter in Texas. Nippert should find new lease on life in Arlington.

What does it give the Arizona Diamondbacks
The D'backs had a surplus of right-handers of similar ilk, and Nippert was not going to get much of an opportunity to start in Arizona. Therefore, the club found a taker for him and will take a flyer on Marte.
