The Chicago White Sox acquired pitcher Tony Pena from the Arizona Diamondbacks for first baseman Brandon Allen.
What does it give the Chicago White Sox
The White Sox have a very good bullpen already, but adding Pena gives them a needed youth element (since most of their key relievers are in their 30s). He will be another flame-throwing righty option.
What does it give the Arizona Diamondbacks
Allen is a solid lefty hitting prospect who moved up from Double-A to Triple-A this season. If he keeps progressing as he has, he'll provide the D-Backs with another option at first base, a position at which they don't have a lot of depth.
