DODGERS ACQUIRE OF BRETT EIBNER
The Los Angeles Dodgers acquired outfielder Brett Eibner from the Oakland Athletics for infielder Jordan Tarsovich.
What does it give the Los Angeles Dodgers
Eibner could provide valuable outfield depth for the Dodgers in 2017, especially since Trayce Thompson is currently hobbled by a bad back that could force him to miss the start of spring training. There is a chance Eibner settles into a platoon role at some point this season, either with Andre Ethier (LF) or Joc Pederson (CF).
What does it give the Oakland Athletics
The Athletics recently designated Eibner for assignment, so they did well to turn him into a future asset. The 25-year-old Tarsovich is mainly a third baseman with a decent bat (but not a ton of home-run power). For the most part, he will provide organizational depth for Oakland (which is what Eibner provided as well).
Fantasy impact
Neither Eibner nor Tarsovich has much in the way of fantasy value, so for now this deal does not change their status in fantasy baseball. It would be best to take a wait-and-see approach with both players.
