The Cleveland Indians acquired pitcher Carlos Frias from the Los Angeles Dodgers for a player to be named later or cash considerations.
What does it give the Cleveland Guardians
Frias can both start and relieve, so he is a decent addition to the American League champions. He is expected to be in the bullpen mix in spring training and could be used in a swingman role in 2017.
What does it give the Los Angeles Dodgers
The Dodgers had recently designated Frias for assignment, so they at least were able to get back a future asset or a little cash for his services. Los Angeles has better options moving forward.
Fantasy impact
If Frias is able to win a job out of spring training, he will probably have a limited role in Cleveland. Therefore, his fantasy value is not quite high enough to be draft-worthy at this time. Keep him on the radar, though.
