PIRATES PICK UP PITCHER PAT LIGHT

The Pittsburgh Pirates acquired pitcher Pat Light from the Minnesota Twins for a player to be named later or cash considerations.

What does it give the Pittsburgh Pirates
The Pirates obviously see something in big right-hander Light, who struggled badly in Major League Baseball last season. Still, he is only 25 years old and boasts good strikeout ability. Therefore, he is a good gamble for the Bucs at this time.

What does it give the Minnesota Twins
The Twins had already designated Light for assignment recently, so they feel good about landing a future asset in return for his services. Minnesota obviously feels comfortable with their bullpen without Light, so they made this move.

Fantasy impact
Light has some fantasy appeal, but he is not worthy of being selected yet (even in keeper leagues). First, he must prove he can throw strikes with greater consistency at the big-league level.
