ANGELS ADD AUSTIN ADAMS FROM THE TRIBE
The Los Angeles Angels acquired pitcher Austin Adams from the Cleveland Indians for a player to be named later or cash considerations.
What does it give the Los Angeles Angels
The Angels made a corresponding move after adding Adams to their bullpen stables, designating Deolis Guerra for assignment. Guerra was expected to compete for a relief job this spring, a competition Adams is now expected to enter with Los Angeles during the Cactus League season. He is a decent addition to the Angels.
What does it give the Cleveland Guardians
The Indians had designated Adams for assignment recently, so they feel comfortable taking back a future asset for his services. The 30-year-old Adams has talent, but Cleveland ran out of patience with his lack of consistency (and prolonged injury history). They have plenty of depth, so the Tribe could afford to move on here.
Fantasy impact
Adams might become a setup man in Orange County over time, but he should not be drafted in any league format just yet. It is better to take a wait-and-see approach early on in 2017 and see how the Angels' bullpen shakes down.
